Aurubis provides prefabricated systems for the material as well. The Nordic Copper Special Patina is designed to match copper surfaces, particularly for historical buildings. The surface finishes in the Nordic Copper range include varying intensities of brown oxidation and green or blue pre-patination. For more information, please contact our TECU® Project Consulting team.Aurubis offers copper for roofs and façades treated with a variety of factory-applied surface treatments to create various stages of oxidation and patination. However, due to the Patina surface's special nature, a few important guidelines on processing, material properties, transportation and storage should be kept in mind. TECU® Patina can be processed like bright rolled copper using standard techniques and machines. TECU® Patina is especially suitable for all metal-working processes & techniques, from traditional seaming to modern cladding fabrication. Our TECU® Project Consulting team will be happy to assist you. When installed in public buildings, TECU® Patina surfaces are better placed out of reach, or protected from touch. If TECU® Patina sheets are installed in interior areas, the natural colour blending process takes longer, as the development of the patina surface indoors is mainly influenced by the air's humidity. Differences in the colour of natural surfaces such as TECU® Patina are not a shortcoming, but rather a sign of quality. Although these differences can be seen right after installation, they soon become less noticeable on exposure to the elements. After installation, the surface develops in the completely natural manner characteristic to copper.Īs a result of the manufacturing technology used, individual sheets can vary in colour from yellow green to blue green. Fabricating / processing marks on the material's surface are minimised and, even after folding and bending, the patina layer remains in good condition. This temporary yet robust transparent layer ensures long-lasting protection. TECU® Patina is now delivered with TSP surface protection. This gives cladding areas their excellent visual appearance. TECU® Patina surpasses the requirements of EN 1172 regarding tolerances and the most important material properties. Cu-DHP is outstandingly malleable, regardless of temperature or rolling direction. Cu-DHP is well suited to welding and soldering, and is minimum 99.9% pure copper. It is made from Cu-DHP – oxygen-free, phosphorus-deoxidised copper with limited residual phosphorus. TECU® Patina sheet is manufactured in state-of-the-art production facilities to EN 1172 and KME's own strict guidelines. The unique developments occurring in TECU® Patina are exciting – just as modern architecture should be. The many different colour tones and shades eventually blend together, but only gradually. TECU® Patina is always extremely varied, just as you would expect from a natural surface. This process causes a patina layer to grow on top of a pre-oxidised copper surface – a process similar to the natural patination that occurs over a long period of time when copper is exposed to atmospheric conditions. In a specially-developed industrial process, TECU® copper sheets are patinated green on one side.
